Warangal, Feb 1: The State Road Transport Corporation operated over 2,728 buses from different parts of the state to Medaram, transporting nearly 12 lakh passengers to the Sammakka-Saralakka jathara, said RTC Warangal Regional Manager R Gangadhar.Gangadhar told newsmen on Monday that 9,000 officers, supervisors and staff worked with dedication during the Jathara. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the officials, there were no traffic jams and no untoward incidents during the tribal fare.

He thanked S Nagaraju, Executive Director, who has given valuable suggestions and conducted review meetings with the officials for the smooth conduct of bus operations.Nagaraju, who sorted out many problems, took the problems to the notice of Collector and Superintendent of Police.Gangadhar said on the instructions of APSRTC Managing Director Prasada Rao, two LED Projectors were installed for cultural programmes.Patrolling teams worked day and night to regulate traffic through the route.

The Corporation earned nearly Rs 8 crore during the jatra. Over 6.17 lakh passengers travelled in the upward journey against 5.30 lakh passengers travelled last time. Similarly, 6.5 lakh passengers used RTC buses for return journey compared to 5.34 lakh passengers.Gangadhar thanked District Collector N Sridhar and Superintendent of Police Sha Nawaz Khasim for their cooperation.
