Krishnadevaraya anniv in Anantapur

Anantapur, Jan 29: Information, Public Relations and Tourism Minister J Geetha Reddy on Friday said the state government will organize the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Krishnadevaraya in Anantapur district.Dr Reddy told reporters here the coronation would be held on the lines of Hampi Utsav in Bellary district in Karnataka. The date of the festival will be announced after convening a meeting with the officials.

"The festival aims at portraying the grandeur of the Hampi dynasty of Vijayanagara, one of the greatest Hindu kingdoms of medieval times," she said.Cultural programmes, sports and games activities would be conducted on the occasion, she said.The government would also evict encroachers who occupied ancient buildings built in Penugonda.
