Visakhapatnam, Jan 23:``The works on the Petro-Chemical corridor between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada will be speeded up soon much to the glee of the people of Coastal Andhra,’’ said Chief Minister K Rosaiah here on Saturday.Speaking to the media after landing g in Vizag from Hyderabad on his way to Srikakaulam district the CM said `` I would like to interact with the people in the rural areas and havea first hand information about their problems.
So that is the reason, why I have taken up this Rachhabanda programme.’’``It is the intention of the Government that the welfare schemes should reach the beneficiaries directly without being diverted to elsewhere,’’ the CM observed.Referring to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the CM said the Centre has granted a sum of Rs 6,00 crores for its extension.
``It is a fact that there is a dearth of funds for the Jalayagnam projects but we will try to procure more funds for the same so that the completion of projects will notbe delayed,’’ the CM averred .As reported earlier the Petroleum, Chemicals & Petrochemical Investment Region project was granted by the Centre in May 2007.
