Hyderabad, Jan 21: Curbing terrorism and restoring normalcy in the city are the two priorities which New City Police Commissioner Abdul Khayyum Khan has set his eyes on after assuming charge on Thursday.Interacting with the media after assuming charge, Khan said Hyderabad should not be viewed as a 'terrorist hub'.``Terrorism is a global problem. The threat of terrorism is experienced by almost all the cities. It is wrong to link Hyderbad to any terrorist strike elsewhere in the country,’’ the Commissioner said.
With the Republic Day fast approaching, the police are taking all necessary steps to ensure that no untoward incidents take place. "For the last two to three months, the intensity of different movements has affected civic life, but I am confident the city will pass through this phase. The police have the responsibility to bring normalcy as quickly as possible,’’ the senior cop observed.Khan, who served the city in various capacities in the past six years, said he was taking over as the police chief of the historic city with a sense of humility and pride.
