Heated discussions were traded between the ruling Congress and the Opposition parties in the Assembly on Wednesday in connection with the closures of sugar factories in the State. A senior leader of Telugu Desam Party, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao raised the question about the non functioning of sugar factories in Nizamabad, Kadapa and Jampani in (Tenali).
Veerabhadra Rao wanted to know the details why these factories were shut down and the staff were not paid salaries for the last one year. While the Minister for Sugar industries in the state D Aruna fumbled with her answer the members of the House felt that the Government has failed to come up with a proper answer to the issue pertaining to closure of sugar factories.
The members raised the question why a sum of Rs 14 crore was allotted to the sugar factory in Kadapa even after its closure. They wanted to know the details why such a sum was allotted.
