Hyderabad, Jan 9: Harley, a 57-year-old, property maintenance businessman living in Littlemoor in the United Kingdom raised funds through a race that will go to an orphanage, which was destroyed in the floods at Repalle in Guntur district.Harley ran the 27.3-kilometre challenge in just two hours and 15 minutes and enjoyed himself so much that he did an extra lap of Greenhill before returning to the church. The raised money will go to the orphanage through the new Weymouth Christian Charity, Eagle’s Wings Ministries U.K Ltd.
Harley was cheered by about 25 people including his daughter Lisa Vince, who also ran three miles with him. His grandchildren Chloe, 10 and Lucie, six, joined him along the Chesil Beach in Littlemoor.When Harley went to church on Sunday he was given a round of applause for raising money for a noble cause. The sponsorship money is coming in for the children. Harley raised about £1,000 till now.Ultimately, the donations for the Gospel Outreach Ministries Orphanage (GOM) meet will be held in India on January 31.
It will coincide with a special Sunday service at St John’s Church to celebrate the Eagle’s Wings Ministries UK Ltd being given charity status. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Eagle’s Wings Ministries UK Ltd’, with the envelope marked for ‘GOM Orphanage’.
