Hyderabad, Jan 6: The State Government, in a bid to meet the huge expenditure incurred towards payment of the revised pay-scales of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation employees, has raised the passenger fares. The revised rates will come into effect on Thursday. To this effect the Government has issued an order on Wednesday. The revised pay-scales of the RTC employees, coupled with the heavy losses incurred by the RTC during the recent Telangana agitation forced the Government to make a drastic upward revision of the bus charges.
The RTC has increased the fares of ordinary services by eight paise per km while for the high-tech services the raise is 10 paise. The RTC was a bit harsh on the passengers of Garuda and Volvo services by raising 25 paise per km. However, the authorities did not spare super-deluxe service by going in for a 13-paise hike per km.Now, a person travelling from Vijayawada to Hyderabad by super express or hi-tech service will have to shell out another Rs 40 extra.
