New Comissioner for Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Jan 2: The city will have a new commissioner. A 2002 batch IAS officer, G Ravibabu would take over charge from outgoing commissioner Pradyumna, who failed to make any significant impact in terms of development for the city, thanks to political inteference and a few callous uncooperative sub-ordinate officials.However, Ravibabu says he is keen to work in the city as he has perfect plans at the back of his mind for the city's development.

He is interested to strain each of his nerve to develop the city which is full of canals.Ravibabu vows to focus on the improvement of the financial resources of the civic corporation by involving the people's representatives, denizens of the city and officials. He says he would also focus on the beautification of canals by discussing with all political parties who encourage dwellings on the canal bunds. He also stressed the need to improve traffic system by constructing flyovers.

Stressing the need to hasten the process of completing JNNURM works, Ravibabu says he would take all out efforts to complete the housing project, the biggest under the scheme. He said he would take charge on Sunday or Monday, depending on convenience, as he has been relieved as additional commissioner of Disaster Management.
