Hyderabad,Dec 22: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday said 2.25 lakh houses in the state will get piped cooking gas within five years.Addressing a programme organized by the Oil and Natural Gas Commission, the Chief Minister said once the infrastructure is created, the residents would be able to escape the hassles of booking and waiting for LPG cylinders.“It is for the first time that gas is being supplied through pipelines to the houses.Meters will be provided in each house and monthly bills will be paid by the residents,” he said.
He said the state has sufficient oil and natural gas resources in Krishna-Godavari basin in the Bay of Bengal and the government would encourage entrepreneurs who come to set up their units in the state. The Chief Minister hoped that once the pipelines are laid for gas and CNG stations established, vehicles and small and medium industries can also get gas at a very reasonable price. The government will provide gas through pipelines to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Kakinada by the end of 2010.The Chief Minister also reiterated that the State will fight for its reasonable share of gas to be produced in future and also seek its share of royalties.
