JNNURM buses get tax exemption

Hyderabad,Dec 21: The State government on Monday issued a GO exempting 340 buses recently introduced on the roads under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) from paying the Motor Vehicles tax.The tax exemption on the buses, procured by the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (Apsrtc) to ply in the four major cities in the state, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati, was subject to the condition that the funds are sanctioned by the Government of India for purchase of 340 buses under (JNNURM).The GO was issued following the request of Managing Director of Apsrtc.A total of 1200 buses are to be procured by the Apsrtc.
