Flesh trade flourishing at bus complex

Vijayawada, Dec 9: Pandit Nehru Bus Station, considered the biggest in Asia, has gained the dubious distinction of becoming a haven for sex trade. Day or night, the flesh trade goes on unhindered even as the bus station comes under the police limits of Krishna Lanka, One Town and Ralway police. The reason is that the police see the other way as they get some incentives if they encourage the trade.The trade runs under the trees abutting the railway track and behind the bushes. The APSRTC officials have never tried to check this unlawful practice as they think it is the job of the police.The AIDS Society, on its part, has installed condom boxes on every tree for the users.

 The prostitutes wait at departure and arrival terminals, city terminal, subway, near police control room and auto stand to attract their customers. They play all kinds of gimmicks to woo their customers, especially students who come to renew their bus passes.Girls with tight jeans and aunties roam freely wooing class and mass customers. There are incidents, where innocents were relieved of their valuables at knife point by anti-socials who are behind the sex rackets. The area comes under the purview of Corporation, RTC and Railway departments, conveniently pass the buck to the other instead of curbing the trade.
