Hyderabad,Nov 30 (INN): The State Human Rights Commission on Monday took exception to the violence unleashed on Osmania University campus in response to a bandh call given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi in protest against the arrest of their leader K Chandrasekhara Rao on Sunday.Condemning the violence on Osmania University campus in which 10 students were injured in a police attack, SHRC Chairman B Subhashan Reddy issued notices to Director-General of Police RR Girish Kumar, Vice-Chancellor T Tirupathi Rao, police commissioner B Prasad Rao to appear before it on Monday.

The SHRC also instructed the heads of the Police Department to desist from unleashing terror on students agitating peacefully at the educational institutions.The SHRC Chairman said the law and order problem should be tackled without causing injuries to students and the injured should be given medical aid immediately. However, if the students were found to be indulging in violence, the SHRC would withdraw its directions given to the police, it warned.Reddy took the initiative following representations made by several civil liberties forum and others humanists.Tension prevailed on the Osmania University campus as students supporting the demand for a separate Telangana state fought pitched battles with police.But the police said a few students climbed up to the roof of a hostel and threatened to jump down. Another student doused petrol on himself and demanded that the police stay away from the building.A student leader said they would take out a rally to the secretariat to protest against KCR's arrest and the police action against the students.
