Civil supply teams raid on shops, seize Rs 14 lakh pulses

Vijayawada, July 30 :-

  Civil Supplies officials have raided wholesale and retail shops of Sri Ram Traders in Machavaram in Vijayawada and seized red gram and black gram worth Rs 14 lakh till now in a bid to check hoarding and to control open market price.

Speaking to newspersons here on Thursday, the officials said that the retailers are permitted to stock only 40 quintals and wholesalers 1,000 quintals and they should take permission of civil supplies officials before storing their produce in shops.

As the open market price of red gram rose to Rs 95 a kg officials swung into action to check hoarding and bring down market price of pulses.

The officials have registered cases against the management of Sri Ram Traders.
