Hyderabad,Nov 4: In view of the drastic fall in the excise revenue,especially from the sale of Liquor and the dwindling tax revenue from various departments, the State Government on Tuesday sanctioned permits for manufacturing additional Liquor.According to the Prohibition and Excise Department sources,the Government issued orders following a report submitted by the Excise Department that there was a great demand for Liquor in state.

The Prohibition and Excise department, which submitted a report to the State Government in 2009-10, stated that the government can permit manufacture of additional Liquor to the tune of 1,12,54,000 litres per annum. The report said the government should also make it mandatory for Liquor dealers to sell at less than Rs 450 per litre. It also gave permits to manufacturers--Sri Krishna Enterprises, Eagle distilleries, Arc distilleries, GANB and Company and Bagga distilleries for producing additional Liquor in the state.
