Guntur,Nov 24(INN): The State Government on Tuesday suspended five officials in connection with the blast at Narayanpur in Dachepalli, which claimed 13 lives on Nov 16.District Collector Ramanjaneyulu suspended five officials including a tehsildar on charges of dereliction of duty following a report submitted by Controller of Explosives,K Sundareshan deputed by the Centre.The Collector suspended Tehsildar Parthasarathy, a village revenue officer, a village secretary and two gram sevaks in this connection.
Thirteen persons died and nine were injured in a blast triggered by gas leak in a house owned by an explosives licence holder, Boorela Koteswara Rao, who had stored two tons of explosive material unauthorisedly.Following the blast,Dachepalli sub-inspector D Ramesh Babu was suspended by Guntur Range Inspector General ofPolice K R M Kishore Kumar on charges of dereliction of duty.Meanwhile,the injured victims on Tuesday staged a sit-in on the Guntur-Hyderabad State Highway protesting the government’s indifferent attitude in releasing the compensation.
