15 killed in gelatin sticks blast

Guntur,Nov 16:A series of Blasts in Narayanpur village of Dachepalli mandal in Guntur district killed 15 people and wounded another 10.The  Blasts occurred within a span of two minutes causing immense damage to life and property.The gelatin sticks stored illegally in the house of Burla Koteswara  Rao,a businessman in Narayanpur went off when a cylinder blast occurred in the house.It is reliably learnt that the business man used to trade on these gelatin sticks with mine owners in the district.However,Koteswara Rao had a godown in the outskirts to  store these gelatin sticks.The reason for keeping these gelatin sticks in his house is not yet known.

It is  learnt that Koteswara Rao has got license to trade on these gelatin sticks.The police reached the spot and shifted the injured  to the hospital.They filed a case and  are ascertaining as to why the gelatin sticks are  present in the residential buildings.The noise of the explosion was so high that it could be heard by people who are living two furlongs away from the spot.The blast was so intense that five nearby houses were grounded .

So far eight dead bodies have been recovered from the debris and still some more dead bodies are expected to be under the rubbles.Of the eight dead bodies recovered so far,six are of children in the age group of 10 to 12.Among the dead were Koteswara Rao’s wife and two children.The injured were shifted to local Government hospital for treatment.Of the 10 injured who were admitted to the hospital the condition of another four victims is said  to be critical according to the hospital sources.
