Tenali, Nov 14: The police arrested one woman for possessing, circulating and printing counterfeit notes here on Saturday.According to sources, the woman identified as Panchamarthi Koteswaramma, wife of Panchumarthi Koteswara Rao, is a resident of Bikshapathi Bazaar in Salipeta. She was arrested while circulating fake currency of Rs 50 denominations.The police said 16 fake notes were seized from her.

 The police also confiscated a computer, a scanning machine and an imported printer suspected to have been used for printing the counterfeit notes. The police said the accused printed over 1,000 fake notes at a rented house and was circulated among several persons in the district for onward circulation.The modus operandi of the accused was to pass on fake currency along with genuine ones, the police said. Co-accused Ponchumarthi Koteswara Rao is at large. Tenali One Town police have registered a case.
