Guntur, Nov 12: Minister for Major Industries Kanna Lakshminarayana on Thursday mooted piped gas distribution to all households in Vijayawada by June 2010.Talking to media persons after inaugurating a series of development works taken up at a cost of Rs 7 crore near Autonagar, the Minister said the piped gas connection is economical and would help the state grow industrially faster. The state's gas requirements is being met from the Krishna-Godavari basin, he revealed.
The Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh has been entrusted with the task of serving as a single window clearance agency for natural gas distribution network in the State. “This will not only reduce the prices of gas by 40 per cent but also the pollution level in the city,” he added.The Government will set up a tyres manufacturing unit at Mangalagiri near Vijayawada and establish a textile park in Pathipadu. He promised to help develop Guntur town industrially and strengthen it economically on the lines of Visakhapatnam.The government is also making efforts to set up a solar city near Gurajala in over 4,000 acres with the help of industrialists.
