Kanpur,Nov 10: The Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Hindi Academy, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, has bagged the‘Keerthi Bharathi’ Puraskar of the Kanpur Hindi Pracharini Samithi, which is affiliated to Chatrapathi Sahooji Maharaj University.Himachal Pradesh Governor Prabha Rao handed over the award to Dr Prasad in the presence of Samithi head Rajiv Ranjan Pande.Mr Lakshmi Prasad has written over 32 books in Telugu and Hindi and over 100 articles in various newspapers.His Hindi books comprise biographies of noted poets like Bhairagi,C Narayana Reddy and Tripuraneni Ramaswamy Chowdary and translations of works of Bezwada Gopala Reddy and C Narasimha Rao.
Prasad also wrote biographies of Jayaprakash Narayan in Telugu and translated the biography of Harivanshrai Bachchan and works of many other authors. He translated Bisham Sahani's novel 'Tamas' into Telugu in 22 days!A recipient of Padmasri and Central Sahitya Akademi award,Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad recently launched the Lok Nayak Foundation to help and encourage poor writers.LakshmiPrasad is also the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Languages.
