HR panel for ex-gratia to kin of `thieves'

Hyderabad, Nov 9:The National Human Rights Commission has taken exception to the police killing of two persons on charges of theft in Nirmal in Adilabad six years ago.In a direction to the State Government authorities, the National Human Rights panel has suggested payment of ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of each of the accused, Venkatesh and Nagabhushan who were shot dead dead by the police on December 18,2003.

The families moved the National Human rights Commission seeking justice as the bread-winners of the families were done to death even though they were acquitted of the charges later.
