High Court squashes down creamy layer concept

Hyderabad,Nov 2: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition  filed  a petitioner contending that creamy  layer concept  be applicable for candidates contesting in the  Greater Hyderabad  Municipal corporation elections scheduled for November 23.According to the petitioner the  creamy layer concept  should come into force  with effect from  GHMC elections.

As  reported earlier the  Union Government has made it clear to the Supreme Court that the concept of exclusion of creamy layer from the benefits of reservation cannot be applied in the elections.The  Union  law minister Veerappa Moily explaining  the creamy layer concept aired his opinion  saying  that  it cannot be applied in politics,and many states in the country were not implementing
