Pay Rs 50,000 to Bollineni eye victims immediately: SHRC

Hyderabad,Oct 31: The State Human Rights Commission(SHRC)on Saturday directed the government to release Rs 50,000 immediately for those who lost their vision in free cataract surgery conducted by Bollineni Eye Hospital in Nellore.The SHRC Chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy directed the government to release the compensation to victims immediately before November 12. “This is an instaneous relief for the victims,” he said.The commission would decide how much compensation to be paid and who should pay the compensation to the victims after the completion of the case, he stated.The government has submitted its probe report to commission after 10 people who underwent cataract surgery lost their eye sight and 20 people hospitalized with infection.
