Hyderabad,Oct 29: Minister for Primary Education D Manikya Vara Prasad on Thursday directed all public and private school managements to tune ‘Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepu Danda’ daily in the morning hours to promote and encourage Telugu culture among students.The Minister has issued the orders in the wake of controversy of hanging placards reading ‘I never speak Telugu’ tied around the neck of two third standard students for speaking in Telugu on school premises at St Joseph’s English Medium School, Mydhukuru in Kadapa.
The incident triggered off a debate on the alleged snubbing of Telugu language in the state.Talking to media persons, the Manikya Vara Prasad warned that those schools which violate the norm, the government would take stern action on them.All Telugu associations and political party leaders expressed their happiness for issuing the directive making ‘Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepu Danda’ mandatory in all schools to promote Telugu culture.
