Hyderabad,Oct 27: A rubber godown of Venkateswara Enterprises in the cellar of Bahrani Complex was gutted in fire on Tuesday morning. The incident took place at the Minister’s Road in Begumpet , Secunderabad.Thick black smoke billowed from the building as the rubber articles stored in the godown caught fire. The thick smoke disrupted the traffic.Six fire tenders from the nearby fire stations were pressed into service and they had to struggle nearly for hours together to contain the fire.Some of the occupants living in the near by residential flats were shifted to safer places as the smoke which billowed from the cellar engulfed the surrounding areas leaving the people suffocated.
The traffic on the Minister’s Road in Secunderabad came to a grinding halt and there was no vehicular traffic till Ranigunj on this road.The thirty shops in the area where the fire mishap took place were closed. According to the owners of these shops they had already complained to the authorities about the danger of the presence of a rubber godown in a residential area of this sort but our complaint was not taken car of by the authorities.Two bogies destroyed in fire Meanwhile there is another fire mishap in the Moulali railway shed where two bogies caught fire. The fire was soon brought under control and no one was injured.
