Nalgonda,Oct 27: The villagers of Gendepuri in Tirumalgiri mandal of Nalgonda district demonstrated against the slow and inadequate response of the Government administration in providing the safe drinking water when the state Minister of Information and Technology Mr Komitireddy Venkat Reddy visited their area on Tuesday. The minster who happened to pass through this area on his way to Tirmaulagiri and Thungarthi mandals to take part in many welfare schemes was not allowed to step into their village by village women who displayed empty pots and vessels before the minister.
Fed up with official apathy, people of Genderpuri village, suffering for decades due to high fluoride content in drinking water, they have shown their anger and frustration by not allowing the minster into their village.Mr Venkatreddy, the tech-savvy engineering graduate who won from Nalgonda in the general elections held in 1999, 2004 and 2009 consecutively understood their problem and assured them that he would strive for the supply of pure drinking water to this village.Pacified by minister’s statement the villagers allowed him to proceed to Tirmulagiri and Thungarthi mandals where he is scheduled to take part in the welfare schemes.
