Tirupati,Oct 27: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is gearing up for its fifth round of free mass marriage scheme- ‘Kalyanamasthu’, to help young couples get married in accordance with Hindu tradition on October 28.TTD Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao, who held a coordination meeting with heads of all departments and officials of Endowments Department about the arrangements for the State-wide event, told reporters here on Tuesday that the ‘muhurtam’ (auspicious time) for mass marriages was fixed between 9.20 am and 9.32 am on that day.Under the scheme, two gold ‘Talibottlu’, silver toe-rings for the bride and new clothes would be given to newly wed couples.
The TTD would spend about Rs 7,000 on each couple besides hosting a wedding feast to about 60 relatives and friends of the couple.TTD Chairman Adikeshavulu Naidu said the marriages would be held in the headquarters of Assembly constituencies either in TTD Kalyanamandapam, temple or any place identified by the Collector.The newly married couples along with their parents would be entitled for free darshan at Tirumala within 60 days.
