Hyderabad,Oct 23: The Andhra Pradesh Government will introduce grading system in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination from next March 2010.According to education department sources, the system will replace the current mode of evaluation based on marks with continuous and comprehensive evaluation. In this connection the government on Friday issued a GO no 592 effective from next year.In the new system, students would be evaluated both in scholastic and co-scholastic areas, combining formative and summative evaluation. The system would eliminate first, second and third class and there would be no failures in examination.
The teaching and internal evaluation of subjects could be done in teams. Class-level boards consisting of the headmaster, senior teacher and those teaching various subjects in the class could be formed for evaluation. It was hoped that an assessment spread throughout the year would provide several opportunities for the school to identify the latent talents of the learners in different contexts.
