Devarakadra MPP remanded to judicial custody

Mahabubnagar,Oct 23:Devarakadra Mandal Parishat President Bharathi Reddy on Friday surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Sudhir Babu, as her name figured in the dying declaration of B Rajeswari, agriculture officer of Devarakadra mandal in the district, who committed suicide on October 18. The  deceased set herself ablaze,alleging that the public representatives brought pressure on her to supply subsidized sprinklers to their supporters.The police produced Bharathi Reddy before Narayanpeta Magistrate Ramesh Babu, who remanded Bharathi to judicial custody for 14 days. Following the directions, the police took her to District Jail.

It may be recalled that in the dying declaration Devarakadra agriculture officer B Rajeswari alleged that three public representatives—Devarakadra MPP Bharathi Reddy, ZPTC member K Pradeep Goud and local legislator K Seetha Dayakar Reddy brought pressure on her to supply subsidized sprinklers to their supporters.Rajeswari stated that they also threatened her of dire consequences if she failed to supply sprinklers to their supporters.Unable to bear the pressure brought on her she committed suicide, the dying declaration mentioned.
