Vijayawada,Oct 12: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday termed the floods a ‘man-made mistake’ and called for an action against the officials and Ministers who ignored the warning from the Central Water Commission (CWC).Talking to reporters, Mr Naidu, who is inspecting for the last three days going around the flood-ravaged areas in Krishna district, accused Ministers of being callous to the plight of the people.Naidu said that the irrigation engineers are solely responsible for the massive flood fury in the state. The officials are totally failed in assessing and alerting the impending flood danger in Kurnool and Krishna districts. “If they alerted the people properly regarding the impending flood danger, the damage could have been minimized,” he pointed out.

Breaches occurred in the embankment near Oleru in Bhattiprolu mandal in Guntur district could have been avoided if the flood banks were checked properly, he added. He accused the government of storing more than the needed quantum of water and later not protecting the bunds by taking precautionary measures like stocking sufficient number of sandbags at vulnerable points.Naidu said that the Ministers had failed to visit the flood-hit areas and guide the officers. He also accused the officials for not providing relief to flood victims. He hailed the NGOs and NTR Trust for providing succor to flood victims and in helping they shift to their native places.
