Hyderabad, Oct 8 :
The traffic between Hyderabad and Srisailam, which went haywire as the floodwaters of Krishna overflowed on the National Highway at a height of three to four feet, would be restored within next 24 hours.
As the flood water receded on highway, the officials took road repair works on war footing. The roads leading to Srisailam are in a bad shape and the Roads and Building department had started road repair work on a war footing.
Experts feel that filling of potholes would be of little use as a major portion of these roads have been badly damaged, necessitating thorough resurfacing.
The officials of roads and buildings, irrigation, revenue and police are working in a coordinated manner to remove roadblocks and started taking preventive measures for smooth traffic movement on National Highway-7.
The opening of crest gates of Srisailam Dam resulted in severe damage to the road bridge across the Krishna River and cut off the road link from Srisailam to Hyderabad. Hyderabad remained cut off from Kurnool as the Krishna River was flowing over the National Highway 7.
