He also said that the Railway officials put the revenue loss between October 2 and 5 due to disruption of rail services as Rs 12.5 crore (freight traffic being Rs 10 crores and passenger traffic of Rs 2.5 crore).

He said that the overflowing of water on the Railway tracks between Mantralayam and Irnagallu stations and Yermaras-Chiksugar Stations led to disruption of train services on the Wadi-Raichur-Guntakal section, the main route connecting the Western and Southern India. Due to floods, the Railways have cancelled 155 trains—104 trains temporarily and diverted 112 trains. He said that the Railways would carry out the relief materials for the flood victims free of cost.

He said that inquiry would be into the blast that took place in Sholavandan Railway station near Madurai. It may be recalled that three people were killed and 11 injured when suspected indigenous ‘onion’ explosives went off on the platform of Sholavandan station on Tuesday.
