Hyderabad, Oct 6: The President of India, Mrs Pratibha Patil, on Tuesday expressed shock at the huge devastation the flood have caused in the State both for human life and property besides to the livestock.The President telephonically made enquiries about the heavy damage caused in the State due to the flood fury and also the present situation in the State, official sources here said. She expressed satisfaction over the immediate relief and rehabilitation measures taken by the Rosaiah Government.The Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, explained to the President in detail the damage caused to human lives and also to the property. “Mr Rosaiah informed to the President about the loss of 53, lives and also the damage to the standing crop. He informed her that lakhs of people are rendered homeless due to the heavy floods,” the sources said.

The Chief Minister also told Mrs Pratibha Patil about the ex gratia paid to the kin of those who died in the ravaged floods, the visit of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and the assistance promised by the Centre, the sources explained.The President asked the Chief Minister to take measures on a war footing to rescue those who are caught in the flood waters and also provide necessary relief to the affected.
