Telangana Bandh impacted the normal life of people in Hyderabad and all other districts of this region. As Hyderabad being the hub for many commercial activities, high percentage of middle class public in Telangana frequently make a trip to city for business and other purposes. Strict call of Sakala Janula Samme made APSRTC Drivers not to touch their duties. It has been nearly three weeks that transportation facility is thrown out of gear.
However here is one section making merry of this bandh. They are private taxi drivers. Out of condition cabs and SUVs have now come on roads earning thousands for drivers. Opposite to Imliban Bus Station in Hyderabad and Jubilee Bus Station in Secunderabad, queues of private vehicles (not those Volvo buses like Kesineni or Diwakar Travels) are seen offering their services connecting State capital with major towns of Telangana.
Here is the twist. There is nothing for free when you are in bandh. Ticket charges one has to pay here is double to triple (200% to 300%) the regular fare of a normal Bus journey. Rates are varying from Rs.200 to a near by destination like Siddipet to Rs.500 up to Adilabad. Helpess civilians are pouring their hard earned money into the pockets of drivers.
Well, God has to save these passengers before they reach respective destination because 8 out of 10 drivers are 8PM ‘Mandu Babulu’ steering their Dokku Dakota vehicles at 100 Kmph with double the normal occupancy pushed inside.
