Nandyal, Oct 3 :
The flood waters of river Kundu and the rivulet Maddileru inundated as many as many 14 colonies in Nandyal on Saturday. Gripped with fear people reached the top of their buildings as most parts of Nanadyal town is submerged under water. The district authorities have already issued red alert signals and started evacuating people in the low lying areas to safer places in trucks and lorries.
Traffic movement has completely come to a standstill. Bus services from other parts of the state passing through Nandayal have been suspended. According to Andhra Pradesh State Road transport Corporation officials the local bus services have also been cancelled until further notice. Many trucks and lorries on the high way were trapped following breaches in the roads.
