Lakhs of devotes thronged Bhadrachalam in Khammam district to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Srirama with goddess Sita Devi on Tuesday. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy participated in the celestial wedding of Lord Srirama with Goddess Sita Devi being held at Midhila Stadium and present silk clothes and ‘Mutyala Talambralu' on behalf of the State government during the Kalyana Mahotsavam.

Lord Rama ties the special 'Mangala Sutra' which has three pendants to Sita at stroke of 12 noon, Abhijit Lagnam, amidst Vedic chants with lakhs of devotees witnessing the event. Earlier, the purohits conducted Suprabata Seva,Tiruvaradhana and Abhishekam pujas to Lord Rama in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

With Chief Minister visiting the temple, a heavy contingent of police force comprising more than 3,000 police personnel were deployed at the temple town to oversee the security arrangements and ensure the smooth conduct of the Kalyana Mahotsavam.

Warangal Range Inspector General Chouhan deputed to review security arrangements in the Bhadrachalam.  Meanwhile, the State Road Transport Corporation pressed around 650 buses into service from various destinations to Bhadrachalam.

The temple authorities have made arrangements for provision of drinking water and other amenities to the devotees. Senior police officials monitored the security arrangements keeping in view the scheduled visit of Governor E S L Narasimhan to Bhadrachalam in connection with Srirama Pushkara Pattabhisheka Mahotsavam on Wednesday, which comes once in 12 years.
