Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Director AN Safaya on Sunday revealed that the health condition of spiritual leader Satya Sai Baba is stable and there is no cause of worry.
In a medical bulletin issued on Sunday to the media, Dr Safaya said that "Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba was admitted to this hospital on March 28 and had implantation of pacemaker in the heart. He is on ventilator support for assisting the respiration. Dialysis is being done to assist his kidney function,"
The 85-year-old spiritual leader, considered as an incarnation of God to many of his followers Guru to millions was showing signs of improvement and hence there was no cause for anxiety, Dr Safaya emphasised.
The health bulletin further stated that Satya Saibaba, whose real name is Sathyanarayana Raju had a ‘restful night yesterday and he is under constant care of a panel of experts. Baba’s health condition is improving’.
Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy, an ardent devotee of the Godman, met the officials of the Sathya Sai Charitable Trust and the doctors on Sunday after her attempts to meet Satya Sai Baba on Saturday failed.
The Minister also stated that the Godman’s health was stable.
Dr Geetha Reddy had been deputed by the state government after the reports of his health deteriorating emerged from Puttaparthi and worried devotees across the world expressed their concern.
Sathya Sai Charitable Trust officials have been keeping a strict vigil at the hospital, to the extent of not even allowing the Minister or any government official to the Godman’s room in the hospital ICU.
Meanwhile, the state government has also sent a team of doctors from Hyderabad to monitor his condition.
A large number of police personnel have been also deployed at the hospital as devotees continued to pour in to and wait outside the premises, concerned at Satya Sai Baba's health. Security was beefed up after some devotees tried to barge into the hospital on Saturday.
The Godman was admitted to the hospital on March 28 after complaining of breathing problems.
Satya Sai Baba had claimed in 1940 that he was an 'avatar' of God.
