Thousands of people thronged mosques all over the state on Monday to offer prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr before heading off to enjoy elaborate feasts with their near and dear ones. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fitr means "charity".
Friends and relatives exchanged greetings 'Eid Mubarak'. On this occasion the elders in the family shower their blessings on the young ones and some of them even present them give 'Idi'(presents) to the children. This festive is marked by the preparation of delicacies like 'Seviyan' and 'Shir Korma' a dish prepared with milk and dates on Eid-ul-Fitr day.
