The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) on Thursday announced that the sixth phase of the 'Kalyana Masthu', through which it conducts mass marriages for eligible couples across the state, will be held on May 20.
Talking to media persons here, TTD Executive Officer IYR Krishna Rao stated that the free marriages would be held across the state on May 20 morning auspicious hours of Moola Nakshatra Yukta Lagnam.
Mr Krishna Rao pointed out that the TTD had successfully conducted the mass marriages five times earlier so far. As many as 34,000 couples in the state have been married during the past five phases.
He also said that Kalyana Masthu would be performed as per Hindu rituals and that manglasutras, silver toe rings and new clothes that had been placed at the feet of Lord Venkateshwara would be presented to each couple.
Four persons along with the newly-married couple would be allowed to have darshan of Lord Balaji at Tirumala within six months from the date of the marriage. All arrangements would be made by TTD and local advisory committee.
He said that registration and other details for those who wish to get married during the Kalyana Masthu would be announced soon after contacting pundits.
