Low pressure over Bay of Bengal

Visakhapatnam, Sept 5:

  A low pressure formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of Orissa on Friday night, according to the Met office sources.

Under its influence, rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and over a few places in south coastal Andhra in the next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over north coastal Andhra during the same period.

Strong surface winds from westerly directions speed reaching 45 to 50 kmph is likely along and off coastal AP till Sunday morning. Chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) recorded at some places till 8.30 am are: Bhimadole – 8, Anakapalle, Koyyalagudem, S Kota, Vizianagaram, Ranasthalam – 4 and Koderu – 3.
