Vigilance sleuths of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam on Friday arrested four persons for cheating devotees by selling them common laddus and claiming them to the famous Tirupati laddus.
According to Alipiri police, the Vigilance officials conducted a raid when the four-member gang were transporting laddus from Tirupati to hill shrine Tirumala at Alipiri and took them into custody. The vigilance officials also recovered 270 laddus from them.
On interrogation, the gang admitted to their crime.
According to sources, the four members selling the laddus at the rate of Rs 10 against the Devasthanam fixed price of Rs 25.
The accused have been identified as Radhamma, Manikyamma, Gouri and Nagaraju.
Vigilance officer Srinivas conducted the raid and registered a case under the Section 420 IPC.
