Popular film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Saturday said that the Indo-American Cancer Institute & Research Centre (IACI & RC) has become a haven for people afflicted with the dreaded disease.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the IACI&RC, Mr Balakrishna said that the Centre is the only super-speciality Centre for oncology in the city.
He also inaugurated the Cytogenetics Test facility, bus service from Secunderabad Railway Station to Indo American Cancer Institute and separate billing facility for Arogyasri patients.
The actor, who is also the chairman of the Centre, said that the separate billing facility for Arogyasri patients treated here will help in providing better service to the patients. He said that with this new facility, approval time for Arogyasri patients will be reduced and their bills can be sent to clearance in a faster manner. Mr Balakrishna added that this would help to patients to obtain quality treatment without procedural delay in getting approvals.
According to Centre authorities, all types of blood cancer such leukaemia and lymphomas are characterised by specific genetic abnormalities in bone marrow.
Cylogenetics is mandatory as per the WHO guidelines .These genetic Abnormalities are the key to the diagnosis of different types of malignancies for prognostication treatment and follow up cancer cytogenetic services were so far being outsourced.
