Obscene use of Bhagavad Gita in Oppenheimer.  Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer captured the imagination of all ahead of its release. The filmmakers talked about Hindu religious text BhagavatdGita and this increased the curiosity levels among movie lovers across the country.

But even before the film was premiered with R rating, the first R rating for Nolan's film in 20 years for nudity and sexuality, the film's content hurt the sentiments of all Hindus. J. Robert Oppenheimer’s (Cillian Murphy) life and his passionate relationship with Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh), was shown with Bhagavad Gita.

Some defended the decision, though, since the characters don’t regard the book as “holy”, and only as “Sanskrit.”.In the scene, Tatlock asks Oppenheimer if he speaks Sanskrit, surprised at seeing the Bhagavad Gita on his shelf. Oppenheimer responds by saying that he is still learning. When Tatlock proceeds to inquire about a particular phrase, Oppenheimer translated"I am become death, destroyer of worlds", and the two share an intimate moment.
