Vijay Is Highest Paid Actor In India

Till recently it has been Salman and Prabhas's names surfaced whenever the question of highest paid actors arises. Salmon with his consistent super hits at the box office has become a bankable star while Prabhas has made a grand entry with the Baahubali series and became a pan-India star across all industries including Bollywood. So, commonly these two names make news regarding the highest remuneration. But, Thalapathy Vijay has topped them with his new film LEO.

Post-pandemic, the equations have completely changed while Bollywood is still struggling and trying to get into its groove, South is churning out money spinners at the box office like RRR, KGF 2, and Kantara. Bollywood too witnessed a huge blockbuster Pathaan this year but, failed to carry the momentum. It has faced huge failures with big films. 

Vijay who has been consistently building his image since the last decade has only delivered a couple of failures. Even his below-average and average films like Beast and Varisu made money for the buyers. This has made him the most dependable star in the South. Besides Tamil, Vijay also has a notable market in other southern states. This is also another reason why he is being paid huge remuneration.

For his last film, Varisu Vijay reportedly received Rs 120 Crs. After witnessing its box office success even with mediocre content, his pay has reached Rs 200 crs. As per Tamil film-maker reports it is the figure Vijay received for his upcoming gangster film LEO directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Another aspect in raising that much money as his cut is he will be continuing to make his appearance in other films in the universe where he needs rk share screen space with other stars. Leo is scheduled to release on 19th October this year.
