Amid big-budget movies, a small-budget thriller called Heat Is On was released in theaters. Check out our take on the movie.
Story:
Cyril (Mohan Sai) and Abhinav (Vardhan Gurrala) are close friends and business partners. Abhi helped Cyril to marry Aara (Ambika Vani) in an inter-caste marriage, which angered Aara's family. Meanwhile, the young couple is kidnapped, and Abhi is on a mission to find out who did it and why. Are the couple still alive? Does Abhi catch the culprit? You need to watch the film to find out.
Analysis:
Generally, when a small movie hits screens, audiences have lower expectations due to its cast. However, some small films have good and engaging content, and Heat Is On falls into this category. It is a thriller with an interesting premise. Although it's not a new story, its style of narration makes it a decent one. The young director duo, MN Arjun and Sharath Varma, handle the film, and they succeed in narrating it intriguingly.
Regarding performances, Vardhan Gurrala, who played Abhi, scored well as an actor. He got the lion's share in the film. Secondly, Pulkith Mahendra gave his best. His performance as a psycho is good to watch. Ambika Vani and Sneha Kushi justified their characters, and Rajasekhar Aningi also got a neat role to play.
The problem with the movie is that the directors should have taken better care of the characters and their characteristics. A neat premise should have been set in the first half to make the second half more interesting. Still, Heat Is On is a good work of the young cast and crew.
The cinematography, especially the lowlight shots, was captured well. The music should have been more captivating because this type of film needs an engaging soundtrack. The composer should have taken better care. Editing, especially in the second half, is fine.
Verdict:
Heat Is On is a suspense thriller made on a short budget with neat performances from the leads. As directors, MN Arjun and Sharath Varma scored well, thanks to the neat narration. If you love suspense thrillers, do watch this film without any hesitation.
