Rajamouli's Rrr is making waves getting nominations for the 95 Academy Awards. The film stars NTR, Ram Charan, and is a fictitious patriotic entertainer. India's official entry to the Oscars, The Last Show (The Chello Show), made it to the best films category. Kantara, which created a sensation across the country, got shortlisted for the Oscars. The film got nominations for Best Film and Best Actor. The film highlighted the practices and beliefs of the tribal in Karnataka.
The Kashmir Files also made it to the Oscars list getting nominations. The film is a realistic and shocking portrayal of the genocide of Hindus in the Kashmir Valley. Alia Bhatt who played the female lead in Rrr got another delight when her film Gangubhai Kathiawadi got shortlisted for the Oscars. Alia Bhatt will be competing for the Best Actress award. The film is a biopic on Gangubhai.
R. Madhavan's Rocketry-The Nambi Effect is also in the Oscars fray. The film is a biopic on Indian scientist R.Nambi Narayanan who was falsely implicated in espionage charges. Even Dhanush's Hollywood film The Grayman is also in the fray. The film is in the best supporting actor category. Let us keep our fingers crossed when the voting happen during 12 January -17 January.
