Cameron's Avatar and Rajamouli's RRR face the same criticism. Legendary director James Cameron's Avatar2: The Way of Water was released in an extravagant manner across the world. The film got a tremendous response with movie lovers thronging the theatres and thoroughly enjoying the visual spectacle. While the entire foreign media is showering praises on James Cameron, giving 3.5 fo 4 ratings to the film, his own media (US media) is tearing apart the film like anything.
Popular foreign sites and reviewers are ripping apart the film giving it shockingly very low ratings ranging from 1 to 2.5. The Telegraph gave 1 rating, branding it waterboarded with turquoise cement, The Guardian gave 2 rating branding it a thunderously underwhelming damp squib of a return. Even Forbes branded it as a major disappointment while Variety said it came with zero dimensionality.
This is something similar to Rajamouli's Baahubali and RRR. Indian websites, especially Tollywood ripped apart the film giving just 2.5 to 3 ratings but foreign media showered praises on the film. This proves the point and proverb in Telugu ' Poriginti Pulla Koora Ruchi'. Seems both Rajamouli and James Cameron are haunted by the same ghosts. They are mercilessly criticized by their own media for lack of storyline, emotions, slow pace, and banking only on visual grandiose while foreign media lapped their works. High expectations from their own media could be the reason for such a problem.
