Where is Rahman magic.?

Music director Rahman created a tsunami in the music world with his entry three decades back with Maniratnam's Roja in the year 1992. Till that time, music lovers who were addicted to Isaignani Ilayaraja sat up and took notice of him. Even as Ilayaraja continued his mesmerizing magic spell with his soothing and soulful melodies, Rahman drove youth crazy with his foot-tapping and breathtaking numbers.

When Rahman won double Oscars for his score in Slumgod Millionnaire, everyone celebrated the event like a festival. Till that time, Rahman gave many memorable hits. However, of late, it seems he lost his Midas touch. None of the scores for songs even for top directors like Shankar failed to recreate the same magic. Even his background score turned out to be monotonous.

All his fans are left wondering what happened to the Midas touch of Rahman. Many feel, that Rahman who used to tune according to the tastes of Indian movie lovers before he got Oscar awards, later became extremely intellectual and started composing tunes targeting Western music listeners and thus listeners are getting disconnected from him. It has to be seen how Rahman addresses this problem.
