Vijay Devarakonda and Puri Jagannath came up with Liger and the film based on mixed martial arts hit the screens today on August 25,2022. The film showed the journey of a poor guy to become a mixed martial arts champion overcoming his adversaries. In the film, Liger comes from Karimnagar to Mumbai. The film had scenes featuring Jeet Kune Do, mixed martial arts, Mike Tyson, and also Bruce Lee. The trainer (Ronit Roy ) asks Liger (Vijay Devarakonda), about Bruce Lee's beliefs and Liger says it is philosophy.

Cut to it, Ram Gopal Varma, couple of months back came up with a film titled Ladki with Pooja Bhalekar in the lead. He released the film even in Chinese boasting it to be his tribute to Bruce Lee. In the film, Pooja (Pooja Bhalekar) falls in love and adores Brue Lee and comes to Mumbai to undergo training in Jeet Kune Do under a martial arts instructor (Tianlong Shi).

Till that time, both Liger and Ladki's storylines increase the interest levels but from then on Ladki suffered from Ram Gopal Varma's perversion while Liger suffered from Puri Jagannath's mark perversion. Ram Gopal Varma showed his heroine, the main antagonist falling in love and instead of focusing on her mission to win the competition, indulging in romantic songs and intense glamor treats. Story, screenplay, and direction go for a toss. Similarly, Puri Jagannath showed his antagonist, falling in love and instead of focusing on his mission to win the martial arts tournament, runs after the heroine. Here also the story, screenplay, and direction turned out to be disastrous.

Incidentally, Puri Jagannath happens to be the protege of Ram Gopal Varma and it seems both have taken a cue from each other. Liger and Ladki prove that perverted sensuality will not work and only powerful stories work.
