Is Rajamouli really inspired by Hollywood films?

Rajamouli is making the entire Tollywood proud by powering it to new heights with his films at the national and international levels. While he mesmerized Bollywood with Magadheera, he left everyone in awe with his magnum opus Baahubali. The Baahubali franchise elevated the standard of Indian cinema at the national level. Now his recent release RRR is creating a sensation at the box office. People are awestruck by Rajamouli's creativity and when he did the film Eega, he excited everyone.

But many of his critics attack him for drawing inspiration from Hollywood films like The Fly, Gladiator, etc. They were awestruck with the Hollywood classics like The Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments. People rave about the chariot race in The Ben-Hur and the red sea splitting in the Ten Commandments. However many forget that even Tollywood filmmakers left all in awe. There are numerous examples like Mayabazar and the Vithalacharya films. But as the saying goes, Telugu movie lovers are only happy with ' poriginti pullakura'.

Hollywood films Hony I Shrunk The Kids, Avatar, Jumanji, and others mesmerize viewers taking them into another world. But Rajamouli already revealed that he is inspired by Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Amar Chitra Katha. People are criticizing how can Ram Charan bash 1000s in the mob and how NTR survived all the lashes in RRR. But the same people do not question, Sylvester Stallone singlehandedly blasting the living daylights out of all in the Rambo series. When Hollywood does it's Wow when Tollywood does it's Phew.

In Ramayana and Mahabharata, all the emotions are covered and you can create numerous stories. Each of the 18 Puranas has many stories and substories and people who do not know any of them, feel that the west is the best. Earlier VFX used to be substandard in Indian films but Rajamouli proved that even that could be bettered through RRR. Sugreeva covered the entire world and this was mentioned in Ramayana and Ram was shocked at it. This is because Vaali chased Sugreeva to every nook and corner and the same is referred to in Ramayana and one can find the mention of Peru and other countries. For those who criticize heroism elevated with a single person taking on many, there are references in Mahabharata where warriors like Abhimanyu and Arjun killed thousands, and Padmavyuham is one such example.

Hollywood and Indian mythologies are similar and Greek and Romans worship Sun, Fire, Water, Sky, and their mythologies and the characters like Julius Ceaser, Augustus, Achilles are similar to Arjun, Karna, Bheeshma, etc. So instead of getting awe-struck by Hollywood films, Indians can draw inspiration from mythologies as Hanuman going to Lanka itself could be made on-screen in many sensational ways.
