A surge in the coronavirus cases forced the Telangana government to shut down all educational institutions in the state again, barring medical colleges, from Wednesday onwards. Online classes and distance learning will continue as earlier during the shutdown period.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government is mulling over to shut down the theatres or allow 50% occupancy in the cinema halls as the state is witnessing upsurge in coronavirus cases. The state medical and health department worried about the second wave of Covid-19 has sent proposals to the government.

This news is bringing shivers to Tollywood biggies as numerous films are announced to release in next few months. When things came to normalcy with films doing exceptional business at box office, the increase in corona cases is forcing the government to look into the options of operating with 50% seating capacity or shut down completely for few days.

Nagarjuna’s Wild Dog, Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab, Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story, Nani’s Tuck Jagadish, Venkatesh’s Naarappa, Rana’s Virata Parvam, Chiranjeevi’s Acharya and Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam are the films lined up for release in next couple of months.

This week, Nithiin’s Rang De and Rana’s Aranya will be hitting the screens. If theatres will shut down or operate with 50% occupancy, these two films will get postponed to other dates. And, the other big ticket films planned for release in summer would also be pushed to other dates.

Hope, it won’t happen for the wellbeing of Tollywood that witnessed huge losses already due to lockdown last year!
